Training on scientific management on piggery production for livelihood improvements of tribal farmers of Medong segment, Hawai. Under Tribal sub plan.

 

KVK Anjaw, under Tribal Sub-plan project (TSP), imparted three days Training on scientific management on piggery production for livelihood improvements of tribal farmers at Medong segment, Hawai, from 24th to 26th February 2016. On the first day Dr. Manish Kanwat, Programme Coordinator, KVK Anjaw, emphasized on the role of extension personal in society for shaping up of rural livelihood improvement. In the second half he delivered, lecture on deep litter piggery housing system and it’s important for the tribal framing community.

Dr. Tilling Tayo, SMS-Animal Science, KVK Anjaw, on second day, delivered an exhaustive lecture on piglet care and its management till reproductive stage of sow and boar. In second half regarding nutrition aspect viz, ration formulation, balance diet computation with the locally available feed staff were thoroughly thought.

On the third day disease management aspect on piggery production was detail discussed to mitigate the economic loss due to mortality of piglets and waste of man day effort in raising piglets. It is very common that piglets are prone to piglet’s diarrhea and hernia due to reckless castration by local method without following aseptic measures, which results in morbidity and mortality of pigs.    

Second half was kept to review and recapitulate the last two days training and other related farmers quarry regarding piggery production. Altogether 36 tribal farmers had attended the training. Vote of thanks was delivered by Gram chairperson of Medong segment and appreciated KVK, efforts for helping the needy tribal farming community for showing a ray of hope in piggery production aspect.
