KVK Anjaw organized 5 days Skill Development training programme

KVK Anjaw successfully organized a 5 days skill development training programme on “Integrated Fish Based Farming System for Sustainable Development in Hill Areas” from 25 to 29th March, 2017 at ZPC office, Hayuliang. Altogether, 30 farmers including farm women and rural youths witnessed the training programme. During the inauguration session, Dr. Manish Kanwat, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Anjaw in his welcome address appreciated to all the participants for their cooperation and interest towards bringing development in agriculture and allied sectors in the district. He also encouraged to all the farmers to adopt fish based farming system as it could fetch multiple income from cultivation of vegetables as well as fish farming. He also again expressed that as the district has a profound scope for adoption of Integrated Farming System especially in Walong and Kibithoo circle and some other parts of the district, dissemination of proven technologies related to Integrated Farming System from KVK, State Agri. and Horticulture Dept. is by far the most prime importance to enhance the income of farmers, he added.

During the following four days, all the concern SMSs of KVK presented different topics on Pig based farming system, Pest and Diseases on different crops, Horticulture Based IFS and cultivation of summer and winter vegetables, field crops, Farmers Producer Organization, ITKs on water harvesting. As a part of interaction session between farmers and KVK staff, various issues were also raised from the farmers related to pest and diseases of plants and animals, unavailability of quality planting materials, paralyzed marketing system etc. and accordingly specific strategies were also provided so as to minimize the problems. During the valedictory session on the last day, Shri. Kego Jilen, ADC, Hayuliang in his speech encouraged to all the participants to help and support each other to bring positive development in agriculture as it is the major occupation that are being attached with all the people of the district since time immemorial  especially L. Cardamom, maize, millets, medicinal plants etc. Moreover, he also spoke on role of farm women and rural youths in development of agriculture and allied sectors. Lastly, as a part of encouragement, khurpi and hand-hoe were distributed to all the participants. The programme was ended with the vote of thanks by Shri. S. Peter Singh, SMS, Social Sciences.
