Training on Scientific Feeding Management in Piggery Production

 

ICAR, KVK-Anjaw, imparted training on scientific feeding management in piggery production in 20 khamp to self-help group of 10 members on 9th January 2015.

Dr. Tilling Tayo Subject matter specialist (Animal Science) briefly presented the role of different feed components in building up of animal body in term of protein, carbohydrate, vitamin and mineral rich feed resources. He exhorted that, without much changing the traditional practices of feeding pig, different nutrient rich feed stuff should be mixed in equal proportion at optimum level, instead of feeding only one feed stuff component at a time.  So that required amount of different nutrient are obtain by animal for better growth and development of animal body to patch a better price in market.   On the account of On Farm Trail (OFT), Dr. Tayo have distributed 3 numbers of Yorkshire piglets (2 female, 1 male) to Mr. Solemso Tamai, progressive farmers of said group along with a tones of concentrate feeds for initial one month to acclimatize the locally feeds ingredients to avert gastric upset and asked him to rear for breeding purpose to check the production and productivity parameter with reference to altitude and micro climatic effect of Anjaw district on Yorkshire production. So, that its economy and feasibility of rearing Yorkshire breeds of pig can be brought into limelight at grassroots level of farmer centric production system and advice the other fellow farmers of Anjaw district accordingly.
