Newsletter on PRA conducted at Metengliang village

 

A PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal) survey was conducted at Metengliang village by Social Scientist of KVK Anjaw from 16th -18th November, 2015 to know the real present and past picture of the village and identified various available resources, weakness and overall socio-economic conditions of the area. Mr. Chandolum Chiba, the ex-gram Panchayat member and Ajimso Chiba was helped as key informant during transact walk and he enlighten on major issues like land uses, topographical pattern, cropping pattern, water resources, natural vegetation and different micro-farming situations were observed through observation and discussion. Indigenous Technological Knowledge associated with the village were also identified (Tamim tatshi, a wild leaves used for curing viral fever and numsen, a woody extract used for joining fractured in human and animal). Further, Social mapping, resources mapping, wealth ranking, technology mapping, time line of the village, mobility mapping and seasonal analysis was also done to overcome the overall constraints existing in the village through different intervention related to agriculture, horticulture, veterinary etc.

During the PRA exercise, farmers expressed their keen interest to involve in such activities  and majority of the suggestions and solutions were also provided from farmers side which were also recorded for further planning as well as intervention related to agriculture to improve the overall socio-economic condition of the villages.
