Exposure Visit Cum Field Day To NICRA Village, Kyrdem

 

A group of 30 farmers from Umjalasiaw, NICRA Village of KVK West Jaintia Hills visited Kyrdem village the adopted village under NICRA KVK Ri Bhoi on the 27th February 2016. During the visit, the farmers were shown to the fields of the adopted farmers so that they can observed the various climate resilient technologies like water harvesting structure (jalkund), recycling of organic matter through vermi composting, protected cultivation of vegetables under low cost polyhouse, cultivation of mushroom, crop diversification in pea var. Prakash, zero tillage in pea var. Prakash and lentil var. Maitree that are under demonstration in the farmers’s field in Kyrdem village. There was also a group discussion among the SMSs, SRFs and farmers of both the NICRA villages in order to clarify the doubts of the farmers. A field day on HYV of Pea var. Prakash was also organised during the programme. The programme was concluded with a farmer-to-farmer interaction session so that the farmers can share their experiences, knowledge and skills between them. The farmers of Umjalasiaw were very motivated after seeing the various technologies that their fellow farmers are practicing. This really proved that ‘seeing is believing’.
