KVK Anjaw conducted Training Programme under MIDH Project

 

KVK Anjaw organized two days training programme on “Production Technology for Cultivation of Turmeric and Ginger” during 27th to 28th January, 2016 in collaboration with College of Horticulture and Forestry, Central Agriculture University, Pasighat under MIDH Project at Chaglagam CO Headquarter. Altogether, 60 farmers including farmers, farm women and rural youths participated the training programme. The training programme was headed by Dr. Bhanu Mishra, Associate Professor including other resources person Dr. Chandra Deb, Associate Professor, Dr. Barun Singh, Asst. Professor and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Asst. Professor including Circle Officer, Chaglagam, Aniyang Ratan. The programme was started with welcome address from Dr. Manish Kanwat, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Anjaw. During his speech, he specifically mentioned that as the district is endowed with varied agro climatic situations, expansion of area under agriculture and horticulture crops is important for enhancing the productivity and for generation of income among the farm women. He also stress to the farmers that as L. Cardamom is the major crop of the district, management of diseases and pest should be taken as prime importance. He also announced that cash money and momento will be awarded to the most successful farmer of the village. Dr. Bhanu Mishra, Associate Professor, CAU Pasighat expressed his satisfaction seeing the interest and hard working of the farmers inspite of having various problems in the district. He also encouraged the farmers attending the training to go for cultivation of spices and vegetable crops to increase their income. Dr. Chandra Deb, Associate Professor, CAU Pasighat mentioned about the management shade, soil and water in L. Cardamom cultivation. Dr. Barun Kumar, Asst. Professor expressed regarding the diversification of crops. He also mentioned that we should not depend on single crop only. Importance should be given to other crops like vegetables, pulses, spices etc. KVK Scientist from different discipline namely Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Protection, Animal Husbandry and Social sciences also delivered lecture cultivation practices of ginger and turmeric and their pest and diseases management. Aniyang Ratan, CO, Chaglagam also gave a speech on importance of agriculture for improving the livelihood. He also requested to the farmers to open bank account for their security as a farmer. A Farmers Scientist interaction session was also conducted to exchange farmer’s problem and strategies regarding the L. Cardamom and other major crops of the area. Lastly, spade were also distributed to each and farmers attending the training programme.
