Training Programme on SHGs formation for livelihood improvement by KVK Anjaw

 

Hayuiang : A one day training programme on “SHGs formation for improving the socio-economics status of low income groups” was conducted at Chipru village (Metengliang circle) under KVK, Anjaw on 1st July, 2015. Altogether 47 farmers including rural youth and women participated in the training programme. Subject Matter Specialist, Mr. Senpon Ngomle (Plant Protection) delivered the welcome address and suggested the villagers specially the rural youth and women to come forward and join hands to minimize the poverty level through formation of SHGs and farmers club.

Mr. S. Peter Singh SMS, Social Sciences, coordinator of the training programme highlighted the role and importance of SHGs in improving the socio-economic life. He emphasize on extending the benefits of SHGs to the poorest section of the society through execution of income generating activities such as vegetables cultivation, poultry farming, food processing unit, mushroom cultivation, mat making, embroidery etc.

Moreover, he addresses the importance of women in the society, through active participation of women in rural areas will have positive impact on lifting the rural economy.

Mr. Naveen Khoisnam, SMS, Agronomy, share the importance of cereals, pulses and vegetables crop in the district which went on deficit as per the population requirement. Therefore, with a view to cope up the low production and productivity of crop, he encourages the farm women, rural youth and farmers to go for cultivation in group approach.
