KVK Anjaw Conducted Training Programme at Walong
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Anjaw conducted 1 days (25th September, 2015) training programme on Integrated Pest Management in Citrus and Integrated Weed Management in Walong. Altogether 45 farmers including rural youth and women participated in the training programme.
Mr. Senpon Ngomle, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Protection) welcomed the participants and gave a detail presentation on IPM of citrus. He also requested the farmers to share their crop related queries. He heard the problems faced by them in citrus and fruit crops. He emphasized upon the importance of incorporating the integrated pest management strategy and explained them various care and management practices that they should adopt in fruit crops throughout the year for the control of important pests for obtaining optimum yield.
Mr.Khoisnam Naveen Singh, Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy) also spoke in detailed about integrated weed management. He aware the farmers about the importance of controlling weeds as they are one of the major causes for reduction in crop yield and also acts as an host for pest and diseases. He also stressed on integrated weed management approach as the most efficient way of weed controls in order to manage wide range of weed where single method may not be effective and economical.
