KVK Namsai Encouraged Farmers to Upgrade Local Cow Under Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan Phase-II

 

A day long training cum demonstration programme on improvement of milk production and draught power ability was organised at Solungtoo village on 20th Oct 2018 by ICAR – KVK Namsai under Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan (KKA) phase II. During training programme, Dr. Manish Kanwat Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Namsai explain present condition of dairy farming and the economics of low milk producer and high milk producer milch cow in context of Namsai district. Dr. Santosh Kumar SMS Animal Science covered breed characteristics of different indigenous cow and procedure of up gradation from local cow to a good milk producer indigenous cow breed by using artificial insemination. Prerequisite of artificial insemination, heat detection, selection of cow and characteristics of high milk producing cow were also explained during the training programme. To diversify dairy farming, knowledge on vermicompost/compost making and their used in kitchen gardening were also imparted. 17 farmers were provided biological waste decomposer as demonstration and total 74 farmers including GoanBura were participated in the training programme.
