After the meeting, the team visited Shri Yijum Riba and Shri Yinya Riba’s jhum field and monitored about the problems in jhum paddy and maize crops. The problems in paddy were due to blast for which 2-3 times sprays of Carbendazim @ 2 g/lit of water or Tricyclazole 75% WP @ 0.6 g/lit of water respectively at 7-10 days interval and stem borer for which 2-3 sprays of Triazophos 40 EC@4 ml/lit of water in paddy and maize and nutrient deficiency. The team also diagnosed the problem of nutrient deficiency in the upperside of the jhum field where the plant population is lesser compared to other parts of the field and found discolouration of the leaves of both paddy and maize for which corrective measures have been advocated to the farmer. The team encouraged the farmers for adopting the new technologies developed by the ICAR and not to be depressed due to damage of the crop for which the control measures have been advocated.
