Division of Horticulture, ICAR-RC-NEHR, Umiam conducts Field Day on ‘Horticulture crops – Production and Management’

 

A Field Day on “Horticulture crops-Production and Management” was conducted by the Division of Horticulture, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam under Tribal Sub Plan on 20th January, 2018. A total of 83 farmers from different villages of Ri-Bhoi district (Tyrso, Umeit, Mawphrew and Umtham) participated in the programme. The programme was mainly to show case various production and management technologies in vegetable crops, flower cultivation, fruits and its value addition, and accordingly the farmers were addressed on these issues. Throughout the programme, the farmers expressed great enthusiasm in learning these scientific practices, and interaction between the scientists and farmers during the programme addressed the basic gap in knowledge regarding management practices and their application. The farmers were very much convinced that adoption of scientific cultivation practices will improve their production as well as quality, thus leading to higher output and more income generation. In the valedictory programme, inputs (implements and planting material) were distributed to all the participants.
