ICAR-NOFRI Demonstrated Organic Production Technologies to the Team of Block Technology Managers of Madhya Pradesh

 

ICAR-National Organic Farming Research Institutes (ICAR-NOFRI), Tadong, Gangtok in collaboration with ATMA, Sehore, Madhya Pradesh organized one day demonstration of various organic production technologies to the Block Technology Managers (BTMs) of Madhya Pradesh. A total of nine officers attended the program on “Crop Production and Management Practices under Different Agri-Horti System in Sikkim”. The program was aimed to train the block level manager who can popularize the suitable technologies with the help of progressive farmers in the state.

During the program, Dr. Ashish Yadav, Senior Scientist, ICAR-NOFRI emphasized on the planting techniques and management of fruit trees under different Agri-Horti System. He also briefed about the status and stature of horticulture in Sikkim. Dr. Matber Singh, Scientist Senior Scale (Agroforestry) highlighted the crop production practices under different Agri-Horti System. He focused on the nutrient mobilization of tree leaves to annual crops and elaborated about the use of different trees for organic cultivation of various crops. Mr. Shaon Kumar Das Scientist (Soil Science) detailed the importance of healthy soil in organic cultivation and discussed about the health management of soil under different Agri-Horti System. Dr. Chandramani Raj stressed on the role of enriched manure with bio-control agent for the control of insect, pest and diseases in Agri-Horti System. He also discussed about the prominent use of ethno-botanicals for the management of several diseases and pest along with neem based bio-formulations.

The participants were very enthusiastic and interactive during the demonstrations of various technologies at ICAR-NOFRI farms. At the end, the Madhya Pradesh Team thanked to Dr. R.K. Avasthe, Joint Director and Team of Scientists for the successful conductance of field training cum demonstration of organic production technologies under different Agri-Horti System. Mr. Adarsh Kumar, Ms. Zangmit Lepcha and Ms. Sujata Rai assisted in during technology demonstrations.
