Honble MLA, Lekang interact with SHGs, Farmers interest Group and Livestock Grower Association in Namsai District of Arunachal Pradesh
A day long programme was organized by KVK, Namsai on 24th August, 2019 at Mahadevpur-III of Lekang circle with the aim to interact with SHGs, Farmers interest Group and livestock Grower Association in Namsai District of Arunachal Pradesh. The programme was chaired by Honble MLA Lekang Madam Jummum Ete Deori along with distinguish guests Sri. Gopa Kumaran G. Nair, GM NABARD, Itanagar, AGM, NABARD, Kamal Roy, DDM, NABARD, Itanagar, Col. Ivan Singh, Assam Regiment, Dr. R.D, Jindal, DVO, Namsai. Dr. Manish Kanwat, Senior Scientist and Head KVK Namsai delivered a welcome address and gave brief details about the activities performed by the KVK in the district in respect with the doubling of Farmers Income. The programme was started with felicitation to all the dignitaries by Sh. Ritupurna Deori, promoter, FPO, Namsai. In her speech, MLA, Lekang encourage especially to the women farmers for their active participation in farming practices. She urged all the farmers community to involved all livestock activities along with adoption of integrated farming model for doubling their income by 2022. She also gave emphasis on creation of FPO on Livestock in Namsai district. On his speech GM, NABARD appreciated KVK Namsai for their excellent activities perform both in campus and off campus. He also shown interested to form FPO on livestock in Namsai district for overall betterment of the farmers community. AGM, NABARD highlighted various schemes related with agri. and allied subjects. DVO, Namsai mentioned that Livestock is one of the main components for doubling farmers’ income in short period of time compare to agriculture/horticulture and also asked farmers to give more emphasis to this component. Col. Ivan, Assam regiment spoke about the useful and importance of IFS to doubling farmers’ income. Earlier, as a part of the programme, GM, AGM, DDM, NABARD, Itanagar along with KVK officials visited different livestock units specially goat units established by KVK, Namsai funded by NABARD, Itanagar under the project entitled “Nutritional Security and Sustainable Livelihood Improvement of Tribal through Scientific Goat rearing quality goat production with scientific intervention” situated at different villages of the district including Alubari, Nampoong, Mahaloni etc and also interact with the farmers. They also visited the KVK, Farm complex and appreciated all KVK officials for their wonderful activities. During the programme, KVK Namsai distributed certificates to the successful poultry growers and also one hatchery unit to FPO group to produce quality chicks. A total of 160 farmers were participated in the programme. The programme was ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Binod Dutta Borah, SMS, Anim. Sci.
