FAMILY FARMING

 

ICAR Research Complex, Umiam organized a Programme on “Family Farming” under the Tribal Sub Plan on 9th  November, 2014 to create awareness among the people about family farming for food and livelihood security at household level. Dr. A. K. Tripathi, HOD Social Science explained the participants about the importance of family farming to address the food and nutritional security at household level. Dr. S. V. Ngachan, Director, ICAR RC, Umiam, Prof. Rajesh Kumar, BHU, Dr. Jitendra  Chauhan,  Secy.,  SEE  Agra  and  other  dignitaries  also  spoke  on  the  occasion. They suggested that there is a need of educating the students, both husbands and wives to inculcate the habit of farming in their children at household level which will be useful not only to address the food and nutritional security but also to make a direct and indirect impact on the environment.During the day many programmes like Drawing and Painting competition, Quiz competition was organized. Prizes were also distributed to encourage the participants. In this programme, students, husbands, wives, farmers, employees of ICAR also participated.
