Diagnostic Visits Conducted By KVK Anjaw

 

A diagnostic visit was conducted by a team of KVK Anjaw comprising of Subject Matter Specialist Senpon Ngomle (Plant Protection), Subject Matter Specialist Khoisnam Naveen (Agronomy) and Keshap Ch. Gogoi (programme Assistant) to Parthesa Manyu’s large cardamom and maize field at Barfu village on 12th   July 2015. During the visit the team monitored the field of large cardamom and maize. In large cardamom field Senpon Ngomle, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant protection) observed heavy infection of leaf blight disease, almost 80 percent of the plants dried up showing sun burn appearance. He suggested the farmers to apply copper containing fungicides like Blitox @ 3gm / lt of water to control foliar fungal disease or Trichoderma @ 4 ml/ lt can be apply to avoid chemical spray and also suggested the farmers to grow shade tree to avoid sun scorching.  Khoisnam Naveen, SMS (Agronomy) also inspected the maize field where plants were found infected with turcicum leaf blight. He suggested the farmers to apply mancozeb @ 2.5g/l at 8-10 days interval or to go clean cultivation by destroying the infected plants. He also advocated the farmers on the benefits of using improved seed variety as well as seed treatment before sowing. Later the team collected soils and disease plant samples for further analysis in Laboratory.
