8 Days National Model Training Course on IFS Kicks off at ICAR Manipur Centre, Imphal

 

One 8 days long National Model Training Course on "Integrated Farming System for Sustainable Hill Agriculture : An Option for Climate Smart Agriculture and Natural Resource Management" was inaugurated by Dr. Suhel Akhtar, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur as Chief Guest; while Dr. N. Prakash, Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Meghalaya and Shri Kh. Mohendra, Additional Director (Agriculture), Government of Manipur acted as President and Guest of Honor, respectfully. In the inaugural programme, the welcome address was given by Dr. M. A. Ansari, Scientist & Course Coordinator and Key note address was delivered by Dr. I. Meghachandra Singh, Joint Director i/c, ICAR, Manipur Centre. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Suhel Akhtar, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Manipur congratulated Dr. N. Prakash for taking over the charge of Director of ICAR, Meghalaya also emphasized that integrated farming system is one of the ways to double the farmer income. Shri Kh Mohendra, Additional Director (Agriculture), Manipur highlighted the importance of the training programme in the context of climate change. Dr. N. Prakash in his presidential speech highlighted the achievements of ICAR in the area of integrated farming system. He also emphasized that IFS is the most sustainable way to achieve desired productivity and profitability. The programme was ended with vote of thanks by Dr. S. S. Roy, Scientist & Course Coordinator. All total 25 participants including academicians, state officials and subject matter specialists covering various disciplines are participating in MTC. Resource persons from various North Eastern states will share their knowledge and experience with the participants. The said Model Training Course has been sponsored by Directorate of Extension, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Government of India.
