Ceremonial Release of Crop Varieties developed by ICAR   on 1st  March ’2015

 

 

Ceremonial  release  of  crop  varieties  developed  by  ICAR  was  organized  by  ICAR  Research Complex for NEH Region, Tripura Centre and the ceremonial release was inaugurated by Shri Manik Sarkar, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tripura on the 1st  March in the presence of State dignitaries and 416 farmers from 18 Farmers’ club and 3 NGOs in 38 places of Tripura. Different Crops are of 16 new high yielding varieties of paddy, mungbean, urdbean, sesamum, elephant foot yam, greater yam, pineapple and papya. State Dignitaries are Shri Pabitra kar, Hon’ble Dy. Speaker, Tripura Legislative Assembly, Shri Dilip Das , Hon’ble   West Tripura District Sabhadhipati, Shri Haricharan Sarkar, Hon’ble MLA, Bamutia Constituency, Tripura Legislative Assembly, Shri Khokan Debnath, Hon’ble Chairman, Mohanpur Block, West Tripura, Dr V. K. Bahuguna, Principal Secretary (Agriculture), Dr B. Haldar, Pro-vice Chancellor, ICFAI, Tripura, Dr D.P. Sarkar, Director (Agriculture), Shri S. Das, Director, (Horticulture & Soil Conservation),  Dr  D.  Das,  Director  (ARDD)  and  other  state  officials.  In  the  Ceremonial  release programme, other dignitaries present were Dr S. V. Ngachan, Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region,  Meghalaya,  Dr  Arbinda  Kumar,  Sr.  Scientist,  Draught  and  Arobic  Rice,  International  Rice Research Institute, Manila, Phillippines, Dr M. Sankaran, Sr. Scientist, IIHR, Bangalore, Dr Jai Prakash, Sr. Scientist, IARI, New Delhi, Dr K. Chattopadhya, Sr. Scientist, CRRI, Cuttack. All the Scientists, Technical Staff, Project Staff, Administrative Staff and TSM employees of ICAR were also present. KVK Personnels from 4 KVKs situated in Tripura were also present in the meeting. The Demonstration of Technology was depicted through live materials and posters and Plant Growth Chamber was inaugurated by Shri Manik Sarkar, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tripura. Welcoming all the persons present in the huge gathering, Dr M. Datta, Joint Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Tripura Centre had narrated in brief the achievements of Tripura centre followed by description of ICAR activities in operation across the region by Dr S. V. Ngachan, Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Meghalaya. Thereafter, Ceremonial  release  of  crop  varieties  was  made  by  Hon’ble  Chief  Minister  of  Tripura  and  other dignitaries followed by supply of inputs (Paddy, Mango saplings, Mushroom Spawn, Fish yearlings  and Poultry birds) developed by ICAR among the attending farmers. In the meeting, it is expressed that there has been a strong linkage existed between ICAR and Govt. of Tripura and such close association is necessary to develop the agrarian economy of the region and Tripura in particular. The ceremonial release programme came to an end with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr S. P. Das, Sr. Scientist and Plant Breeder of ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Tripura Centre.
