KVK Anjaw monitored, poultry farm establish at farmers level for doubling income generations at different villages

KVK Anjaw monitoring the distributed vanaraja birds to farmers for doubling income generations at Supliang, Tafraliang and Naralaing Village on 4/03/2018. Earlier Dr. Tilling Tayo SMS (Animal Science) have thought farmers for brooding the vanaraja chicks upto 21 days under enclosed compartment maintaining at least 75-90F to prevent the mortality of chicks from cold. Farmers were brooding their poultry using different technique of locally available material. Most of the farmers were using light bulb for heating source in brooding area, but one progressive farmer, Mr. J. Chaitom is using kersoin lamp for heating source in brooding area, since due to highway road cutting the main electric pole supplying to supliang village were damaged. It was interesting to see that he used wooden carts and made four compartments, in each compartment 50 chicks were distributed and two lamp were used during night and only one lamp during day. The top were covered with GI sheet to prevent the escape of heat. Out of 200 vanraja DOC distributed birds, only 18 birds died, some during transportation form KVK office to farm and other during brooding, but usually 5-10% mortality is usually taken into consideration in poultry farming.  Dr. Manish Kanwat, Sr. Scientist & head KVK Anjaw, monitoring the farming progress in poultry and appreciated the farmers for developing such innovative idea of brooding with locally available source to different farmers. While motivating the farmers to carry their activities in days to come for sustainable income generations and asked the farmers to keep in touch with SMS Animal science for any technical assistant during completely farming periods.
