District level farmers training programme on Acid Soil Reclamation conducted under ATMA

 

A three day training programme on Acid Soil Reclamation, nursery management and vegetable production was organised by State Agriculture Department in collaboration with KVK Anjaw under Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) at Jaw Phega, Hayuliang Anjaw district on 23th June, 2016. Khoisnam Naveen and Prasanta Mahanta attended the programme as a resource person from ICAR, KVK Anjaw. All together 20 farmers including farm women and rural youth attended the first day of training programme.

S. Bhattarcharya, Agriculture Development Officer, chaired the training programme. He highlighted different Govt. scheme of the State Agriculture Department and urged the farmers to come forward for availing scheme. He asked the farmer to interact with the resource person from ICAR, KVK Anjaw to clear the doubts.

Khoisnam Naveen, Subject Matter Specialist (SMS, Agronomy) delivered a lecture on Reclaimation of Acid Soil and problems associated with it. He highlighted the importance of reclaimation of acid soil for increasing farm productivity along with different measures to overcome it.

Prasanta Mahanta, Farm Manager spoke on importance of nursery management. He urged the farmers to go nursery raising of Large cardamom for disease free planting materials.

The training programme for the day was concluded with a field demonstration on nursery bed preparation with application of Dolomite lime at the farmer field of Sh. Abra Manyu.
